The year is 1991, and it's the beginning of a vast struggle in the Wizarding World, after an uneasy lull of ten years. Everyone has tried their hardest to forget Voldemort, and the possibility that he's still out there, somewhere, biding his time, waiting for the chance to return and seize power. Everyone, that is, except for Harry Potter, who has had no idea that such a dark wizard, or any wizard, even existed - until now. Now, an enormous man named Hagrid comes to rescue him from the starvation and neglect that is living with the Dursleys, his only living relatives. Now, he is told that there is a secret society of magical people, all of whom know his name. Now, he is told that his parents didn't die in a car crash; they were murdered. By Lord Voldemort.
Harry's journey into his first year of Hogwarts is anything but an easy one. Heads turn and whispers follow wherever he goes in the castle, every student craning to get a look at the Boy Who Lived. He has people on his side, of course, people who actually get to know him as a person, rather than a boy with a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. The inner workings of the castle go on, even though such a legendary individual has entered their midst.
Not all is well, however, within the castle walls. There is something hidden at Hogwarts, something that someone would very much like to get their hands on. Besides the obvious rules of the castle - the Forbidden Forest is out-of-bounds, no spells in the corridors, detention for talking back to Severus Snape - there is a new, interesting addition: the right-hand side of the third floor corridor is now out-of-bounds to all those who do not wish to die a very painful death. Unicorns are being slain in the forest; the Slytherins are rowdy and cruel; while once Harry Potter found life to be exceedingly boring, there are now flying lessons - and mysteries about a man named Flamel - to occupy his time.
The Mirror of Erised explores the world in which Harry Potter begins to grow up; at his side are all the Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, and Slytherings one could possibly imagine. Currently, we are in the trio's first year at Hogwarts. As the RP grows forward, so do we. Eventually - with time and lots of fantastic members - we'll cycle through the entirety of the seven books. Characters will come and go and new members will always be welcome. Look through the rules, the list of canons to play, the specifications, and start what is sure to be an exceptional RP experience.
